In 1998, the working group "Leipziger Kreis" was founded by the houses "Denkmalschmiede Höfgen", "Künstlergut Prösitz", "Künsterhaus Hohenossig" and "Steindruckerei Ch. Mülle&Pensions". Their goal was to present the artists' work to the public. Three years later, in fall 2001, that loose group developed into the community of interests "Interessengemeinschaft Sächsischer Künstlerhäuser". In order to create a shared information-platform and to utilize the advantages of their interrelation, the six saxon houses of artists founded their own regional association in spring 2004.
Over the years, private and labor contacts changed and caused some members to leave, and other members to join the association. At the present time, nine houses work closely together in a heterogeneous circle and allow multifaceted exchange over different concepts of collaboration.
